Jesus Disciples. In the ancient world, a disciple is a follower or adherent of a teacher. It is not the same as being a student in the modern sense.

One place in scripture where we can see an example of Jesus' intentional leadership is in the feeding of the five thousand. The disciple Peter had his root name from "Petros" which interprets as "rock."He used to fish for a living, and he was referred to as Simon in Hebrew. Many of Jesus' disciples ended up traveling to spread the word of Jesus and to build churches in other areas.
